“You don’t need to invent anything, you just have to do traditional research where you look at history and then compliment that with scientific research where you’re trying to do something new. That can lead to a lot in the business and technology sectors these days” – Bill Buxton

Largest recall of vehicles in US history

Today, Toyota and Lexus announced the Biggest-ever Vehicles Recall. An approximate 3.8 Million Cars and Trucks could experience safety problems with a removable floor mat that could interfere with the vehicle’s accelerator and cause a crash. Here’s the recall list:

  • 2007-2010 – Toyota Camry
  • 2005-2010 – Toyota Avalon
  • 2004-2009 – Toyota Prius
  • 2005-2010 – Tacoma,
  • 2007-2010 – Toyota Tundra
  • 2007-2010 – Lexus ES350
  • 2006-2010 – Lexus IS250 and IS350

What you should do:

Owners should take out the floor mats on the driver’s side and not replace them. When Toyota develops a “fix” for the problem, the affected cars and trucks will be recalled to dealerships for replacement or retrofitted floor mats.

Is Halo 3: #ODST that good?

Couldn’t help noticing the amount of Twitter streams regarding Halo 3: ODST. This is the new game saga from Bungie, based on the successful game Halo 3. Now, people on twitter and pretty much all gaming forums are talking and playing non-stop. It is like an addiction that I think it’s just starting. I haven’t had the chance to play it but so far, reading and listening only “good comments” it looks that I will need to get a hands on on a Xbox 360 and try it myself.

Anyways, for those that would like to get a first hand review, Joystiq.com made a really good mini FAQ explaining almost all details related to Halo 3: ODST.

Enjoy! >>>

wowOwow site for men – momOmom.com

While browsing on the internet I came across with this site: wowowow.com, which includes stories written by the wowOwow contributors, as well as wowOwow “Friends,” in the “A Friend Stopped By” section of the website. Their stories vary from one or two sentences in response to the “Question of the Day” feature to several pages of commentary, diary format reporting, or transcribed conversations and interviews. You can find among their contributors names like Whoopi Goldberg, Ashley Judd, etc.

From my perspective, it seems like a quite popular social site that was launched over a year ago. Do we (Guys) have something similar? A site meant for men where we can talk about men-related subjects in just one place.

As an example, here is the question of the day for wowowow.com:

What living American woman has had the biggest impact on our lives?

Can we have something like?

What type/brand of automobile has had the biggest impact on our lives?

Fifa 2010: First impressions

Yesterday, I had the chance to download and play the Fifa 2010 demo for quite a bit. Even though I’m a huge soccer fan, I will try to keep this short review as objective as possible.
Overall, the game looks solid and improved. It will be one of those “must-have” games for all soccer fans out there:

What I love:
- Player control and maneuverability: EA has improved this considerably. You now have almost total control of your player.
- Players AI: One thing that you will notice immediately is that your players are not “morons” when waiting for a pass, trying to tackle or intercepting a pass. But the HUGE improvement was made to the goalkeeper – WOW!
- Players visuals and details
- Gameplay workflow
- Referee: The way he pulls a yellow/red card out…kudos for EA

Needs improvement:
- Visuals for Stadium/fans surroundings – still look like 2 generations ago.
- Default view made the players look small. I know you can switch to different views but this one – which I like because it gives you an overall view of the field – make the players tiny.
- Slow? Even though the gameflow is great, I feel is a little bit slower than previous version.

So far, I have not found something major for a negative comment. One thing though, tonight I will try to uncover some of the old tricks and cheats that a lot of people complaint when playing online with their counterparts.

I tested the demo on a PS3 so I could not tell if there’s any difference on the XBox 360. In the past, EA has developed these titles quite similar (if not identical) for both platforms.

Enjoy!
